The law firm Michael Kyprianou & Co LLC organised at its Nicosia offices on 7/2/2024 a Family Law Seminar.
The seminar was coordinated by the lawyer of the firm Mikaelena Kokkinou.
Mr Nicolas Koursaris, Vice President of the Nicosia Bar Association briefly addressed the participants. Then, Mr Soteris Liassidis, former President of the Family Court, delivered a presentation presenting various practical scenarios in relation to the recent amendments in the legislation affecting the wedding and the divorce. Subsequently, Dr Alina Trifonidou, Assistant Professor of the Legal Department of the University of Cyprus, delivered a presentation on the very topical issue of ‘Cross-border legal recognition of parentage under European Law’ with references to children born through surrogate mothers or children born by parents of the same sex, making references to cases of the Court of Justice of the European Union and the European Court of Human Rights.
